Introduction:

Hello, and thanks for visiting!  I am a practicing dentist in the greater Seattle area.  My hope for this blog is to connect with the community (whether local or the internet at large), and provide some straightforward and helpful dental information.  I am fully aware that many people have a strong dislike of the dentist, but I hope to be a positive and pleasant dental presence available for you.

Personal Background:

Born in Los Angeles but raised in the Seattle area, I love living the beautiful Pacific Northwest.  My husband and I feel it is a great place to raise our son (pictured right at his first dental visit) and daughter.  I love being a mom, and am very grateful to have the opportunity to work in my chosen profession in addition to raising our kids.  I enjoy being outside, whether going for a walk, hiking, being on the water, watching our kids play, or even doing yard work.  As a family, we root for the Seahawks, find great happiness at Disneyland, and love celebrating holidays.

Professional Background:

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Washington before heading down to Southern California to attend Loma Linda School of Dentistry.  After the 4 years of dental school, I made my way back up to the Pacific Northwest for the Swedish Medical Center General Practice Residency.  At the conclusion of all of this, I was thankful to start my career at two local private dental offices.  I am a member of the American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Seattle-King County Dental Society.

Mission:

One professor in dental school said something that stuck with me.  He stated that as dentists, we should all be working to put ourselves out of business.  This statement resonated with me, and I agree with it wholeheartedly!  To clarify, I believe in empowering my patients (and now you, too!) with dental knowledge, so that together we can work to achieve mouths free (or at least freer) of decay and gum disease.  At the conclusion of discussions with patients, I have often heard, “That had never been explained to me” or “I’ve never heard that before.”  This is what brought this blog about, and I hope that Filling You In Blog will be a venue to provide information that helps you achieve a healthy mouth.
